If polls can be relied upon (those have often been wrong before) Republicans are definitely losing majority in the House of Representatives with a 25 seat to the Democrats who could end with 240 seats compared to 195 for Republicans. This means the house can easily impeach President Trump where a simple majority is required. However there is no real danger of impeachment as 2/3rd majority is required in the Senate.
The current composition of Senate is 53 Republicans and 47 Democrats. According to Real Clear Politics poll, chances are Democrats will end up with 51 and Republicans 49 seats. A thin majority indeed. So even if the House impeached the President, Democrats do not have 67 votes in the Senate to see the impeachment through. This can only happen if sufficient number of Republican Senators come to the conclusion that Trump is taking the country in the wrong direction causing Republicans to lose more seats in 2028. It will be a miracle though to convince 16 Republican Senators to vote with Democrats to see the impeachment through. It has happened in the past when a group of powerful Republican Senators told Richard Nixon to resign or they will vote with Democrats to impeach him. The most likely scenario is that Trump will be President for another two years.
The consquence of Republicans losing majorities in both chambers could be drastic. President Trump could really turn aggressive and restart Iran war with heavy bombing, which he has already threatened. The Iranians claim they now have Missiles which can reach Washington and New York. Both sides could just be bluffing to get the other side to come to negotiating table. The worse case scenario is that U.S. and Isreal bomb Iran heavily, in retaliation Iran fires misssiles in the direction of Washington DC and New York causing significant damage. An unhinged Trump could then use nuclear weapon(s) on Iran. That will be the doomsday scenario as radiation could spread far and wide killing hundreds of thousands of people, disrupting oil and gas supplies from the gulf, worse still destroying under sea internet and communication cables. So, let us hope both sides are just bluffing and will soon start a dialogue to end the war for good.
